Lumbar Radiofrequency Neurotomy
A lumbar Radiofrequency Neurotomy helps to eliminate pain to the spine by disrupting pain signals from the medial branch nerves. Using a local Anesthetic and an X-Ray or fluoroscope, a cannula (a needle-like tube) is inserted near the affected medial branch nerves. The pain doctor insteps a radio frequency electrode through the cannula. Once it is confirmed that the electrode is positioned correctly, the electrode is headed and cauterizes the nerve.
